On-Site and Compressed Video - "Same-Time" Courses

For Compressed Video Course Registration Information call:  800-220-1480 ext.1672
"Same-Time" courses are courses that meet at regularly scheduled times.  If you learn best in the traditional classroom with a live teacher at regularly scheduled times, talk to your local Outreach center about which courses will be available.

Outreach On-Site Courses
Some of the most qualified individuals in your community have been approved as WWCC adjunct faculty to teach college credit classes.  They follow the same syllabus as teachers on the Rock Springs campus.  These classes are traditional, live classes in your community, and perhaps, taught by instructors you know Contact your local Outreach office for information about classes available at your preferred site.

Compressed Video Courses
Live courses are also delivered via compressed video that is like watching live TV.  An instructor is teaching the course from another community in SW Wyoming, and you participate via a compressed video station in your community.

Located in high schools or Outreach centers are 11 compressed video classrooms. This compressed video system allows both audio and video to be transmitted via ordinary telephone lines among and between any of these sites.  Not all compressed video courses are offered at each site.  Contact your local Outreach office to see which of the below listed compressed video courses are offered at your preferred site.  An $18.00 fee is charged, in addition to tuition and textbook costs, for compressed video (CV) courses.

What Should Students Do When Technical Difficulties Shut Down a CV Class Session?
When technical difficulties occur such that you did not see or hear the entire compressed video session have the facilitator notify technical support immediately.   In the majority of cases the problem can be resolved with 10—15 minutes if reported to technical support.  In the event that technical difficulties are not resolved during the class period then the student may request a video tape from the local Outreach site.  Videotapes of a session will only be available for one week after the class has met.  Tapes will then be recycled.

Possible Internet Component
Compressed video courses may include an Internet component to give a dynamic and interactive atmosphere to the class.  The component will improve communication with the instructor and allow students to easily obtain course documents. The below table will tell you which classes have Internet components.

Do you have the right computer skills for a compressed video class Internet component?  You must be comfortable with using a computer, using a word processor, sending e-mails, and accessing information on the Internet.  If you are a rookie at any of the above skills, you may visit your Outreach center to help you access the course site and get started or call 1-800-220-1480.  Another option is to take the "Intro to Online Learning" course, an online introductory computer course.
